William Robert “Bobby” Browning, 78, of Lakeland, Georgia passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 23. 2026. He was born on August 24, 1947, in Hahira, GA to the late John William Browning JR. and Fannie Lee Browning.
Bobby proudly served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War while in the United States Army. He also faithfully served his community for 20 years with the Lanier County Sheriff's Office. Bobby loved his family deeply, and each one held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed farming, riding around in his Jeep, dog hunting, watching westerns, and cheering on his favorite wrestling matches. He was longtime member of Refuge Church of God, Bobby’s faith was an important part of his life. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and the values he held dear.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Browning; and brother, Charles Browning.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, of 40 years, Sally Jo Browning; daughter, Angie Lastinger (Wyatt) of Clarksville, GA; step son, Freddie Felder (Julie) of Utahville, SC and step daughter, Paula Hughes of Lakeland, GA; grandchildren Charles Browning (Kathryn), Kyle Browning (Kaitlyn), Lillian Browning, Alex Cruthirds (Jeremy), Ethan Lastinger (Rhiannon), Jessica Heldenbrand (Joe), Heather Messenger (Matt) and Britney Perry (Cedric); 13 great grandchildren and siblings, Juanita Cornelison of Lakeland, Ethel Lee Gray of Lakeland, GA, J. E. Browning of Lakeland, GA and Donald Browning (Peggy), three sisters in law, six brothers in laws and a numerous cousins, nieces , nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday June 27, 2026, at Refuge Church of God. A visitation will be held the night prior from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Music Funeral Services in Lakeland. A burial to follow the service at Fender Cemetery. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
