William Summers

William C. “Bill” Summers - 84
of Valdosta, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019 in his home. He was born on May 28th, 1934 to the late Gordon & Ada (Jones) Summers. Bill served his country in the United States Army. Having a love for his community, he began a 30 year career with the Valdosta Fire Department and retired as a Captain. When not working and spending time with his family, he could be found deer hunting, turkey hunting or working on projects in his shop. He was a member of Abundant Life Church of God.
Survivors include his Wife of 57 years: Doris Baisden Summers of Valdosta, GA; Daughter & Son-in-law Angela and Nick Hodge of Adel, GA; three Grandchildren: Dylan Hodge (Ashley), Alex Hodge & Eli Hodge; Sisters & Brothers-in-law: Mary Fountain of Valdosta, GA, Louise and Jerry Atkinson of Dothan, AL & Anna Lawhorn of Adel, GA; Sisters-in-law & Brothers-in-law: Vonice & Jack Browning, Valdosta, GA, Reba & Keith Hyder, Sumter, SC & Kay Gray, Easley, SC; Brother-in-law & Sister-in-law: B.B. & Shirley Baisden, The Villages, FL and a number of nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 26, 2019 in the Abundant Life Church of God with entombment following in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Full Honors will be rendered honoring his service to the Valdosta Fire Department. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening, January 25, 2019 at the funeral home.
