Of Lakeland passed away late Thursday evening April 7, 2011 at her residence with her family singing and praying around her. She was the first born to the late J.W. and Lois Richardson O'Quinn. On July 24, 1931 in Lanier County, GA where she had lived her life. She will be remembered as a math teacher for 30 years in the Lanier County School System until her retirement over 20 years ago. She was a Lifelong member of the Lakeland United Methodist Church, and a proud member of the Action Bunch Sunday School Class taught by Helen Strickland. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years Jack Thomas Watson who passed away only 40 days ago. A sister Elene Luke, a brother Alton O'Quinn , and a Son-in-Law James R. Nix, Jr.
Survivors include a daughter – Patricia Watson Barnes, Lakeland; and 2 sons Ronald Louis and his wife Linda Watson, Rollingsford, NH, and Larry Wayne Watson, Lakeland.
Grandchildren surviving include Thomas Quinn Nix and wife Angie, Laura Nix Stokes and husband Buck, James A. Barnes, Francisco Jose Marten-Barnes, Rodney Watson and wife Christine Monica Holliman and husband Scott, Laurie Jean Jordan, Robert Burns Watson, Jackie Anderson and husband Mark, 10 Great Grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Other survivors include sister Jean Ingram, Lakeland, brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Sylvia O'Quinn, Jones and Pat O'Quinn, Warner Robins, GA, sister-in-law Mary Nell Watson Yarborough, and a brother-in-law Marcus Eugene Watson several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Watson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday April 12, 2011 in the Lakeland United Methodist Church with burial in Empire Cemetery. Officiating during the services will be Pastor Pete Barlow and Rev. Bill Watson.
Friends are invited to join the family at the funeral home between 6 and 8 pm Monday April 11, 2011 to share condolences, or visit our website at www.musicfuneralservices.com . Mrs. Watson requested no flowers, donations be made to Grace Hospice, or the educational fund at the Lakeland United Methodist Church. The staff of Music Funeral Services Lakeland is serving the family.
